BB Fact Sheet – Recreation - Bridge

Why play Bridge?
  • Learn to play Bridge and help to keep socially and mentally active for life.
  • Bridge will help to keep your mind active
  • Bridge can be played anywhere, anytime, in any weather.
  • Either socially or competitively, Bridge adds a fun challenge to your day.

Baby Boomers and Bridge
  • Bridge is a social game, which makes it attractive to the Baby Boomers population. It’s a recreation of the mind, so let your brain do the work while your body takes it easy. It can be a fun and challenging part of your Preventative Health strategy.
  • The low start-up costs and the ease of finding other players have contributed to Bridge’s worldwide popularity with Baby Boomers.

Getting started
  • Don’t put it off, start now! All you need is a pack of cards, three friends and a willingness to learn. Start a hobby that can keep you entertained for hours on end and is played worldwide.
  • There are bridge clubs at national and State/Territory level, so it’s easy to get in touch with the right people. Bridge is a social game – encourage your friends to join in, too. And you can play any time of day, in any kind of weather – so why wait? Start learning now!
  • Bridge helps to maintain and improve your memory and reasoning skills. Because the game can be complex, you will always find new challenges to thrill you.
  • Anyone can play Bridge – from the very young to the very old. It can be played socially or competitively, depending on what you enjoy most.
